Supported by native speakers: learn German in Vienna

At our institution you will be guided by teachers whose German is at native speaker level. They are highly trained and have excellent knowledge of the ins and outs of German.  As a result, they are well placed to explain grammar, vocabulary as well as specialist terms in a transparent manner. In addition, our ÖIF-certificated teachers undergo ongoing training which ensures the highest level of teaching in the classroom.

How do German lessons in Vienna work for Ukrainians?

Teaching at Sprachschule Aktiv Wien combines a grammatical foundation with practical experience. Our German courses designed especially for beginners focus on the language you need for everyday life: for example, going to the shops or renting a flat. As well as learning grammatical structures, you will be able to put them into practice in concrete situations and try them out in small groups, all the while guided and instructed by your teacher.

Our courses are motivating and interactive, and you will also learn to write in German about specific topics, in accordance with the level of your course. All of our German courses follow the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning), and this allows you to gain the language level you need to master the content and requirements of the German exam at the equivalent level.

Sprachschule Aktiv Wien – the advantages at a glance

If you decide to attend a German course at Sprachschule Aktiv Wien, our administrative team will accompany you throughout the sign-up process and we offer a placement test free of charge. Feel free to visit us at any time in our centrally located school or, to save time, complete the online placement test on our website. You are also welcome to have a trial lesson for free. All of our German teachers are highly qualified, have outstanding subject knowledge and are here to accompany you through the learning process.

Our teaching methods follow the latest research in language acquisition as well as the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning), which simplifies the transition from one level to the next and means that your course certificate and ÖIF exam results will be easily recognised. Our classrooms are centrally located, light and well-equipped spaces. A large range of shops and cafés are only a few steps away and ensure enjoyable breaktimes. Naturally, our administrative team and teachers look forward to providing you with a warm welcome.

Which German courses can I attend, then?

If you wish to advance by an entire level, allow us to recommend our classic option: the German intensive course (Intensivkurs). This takes place from Monday to Friday and it takes four weeks to achieve one level. From B2 upwards, the course lasts 8 weeks. In conjunction with your teacher, you will learn written grammatical structures as well as information about Austrian culture and values, which will allow you to integrate swiftly into Austria and complete the exams of the ÖIF (Austrian Integration Fund). You can also complete an intensive course on Saturdays and Sundays.

If you do not have the time to commit to an intensive course, we are pleased to offer evening group courses (Gruppenkurs), which are less intensive and take place once or twice a week after work. These courses take place over a longer period of several weeks. We also offer ÖIF preparation courses, specially designed to prepare you for the ÖIF exams. Naturally, private lessons are also available, and you can attend any of our courses online.

Arrival and Residency in Vienna for Ukrainian Citizens

Ukrainian citizens whose main residence is in Ukraine receive a Aufenthaltsgenehmigung (residence permit) in Austria, which provisionally lasts for one year. This can be extended by six months up to two times.

Ukrainian citizens already in the possession of a valid residence permit for Austria and who are in the country should contact the Landespolizeidirektion (police headquarters) in their Bundesland in order to discuss the extension of their residence permit, insofar as this is required for humanitarian reasons.

Ukrainian citizens without a visa may travel to Austria and remain as a tourist for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

Learn German for free with financial support for Ukrainians

The ÖIF (Austrian Integration Fund) can provide you with individual financial support to take part in a German course. For this, you must visit us at Sprachschule Aktiv Wien. We can then prepare you a Kostenvoranschlag (quote), which you must bring to your ÖIF advisor at the following address: 26 Landstraßer Hauptstrße, 1030 Wien. ÖIF exams for Residence Permits for Ukrainians

After Ukrainian citizens have registered in Austria, they receive an Ausweis für Vertriebene (ID for exiled persons), in accordance with the law $ 62AsylG. This ID allows them to take part in ÖIF German and integration exams.

The ÖIF German and integration exams are offered at the levels A1, A2 and B1 and help you to obtain a first visa (after passing ÖIF A1), to extend your visa (after passing ÖIF A2) and to obtain, in the end, a long-term residence permit.

Lesson times: Monday to Friday, 08:00–11:00 / 11:00–14:00 / 14:00-17:00 / 18:00-21:00
