Online language placement tests in German, English, Spanish, French, Italian
Language skills are more important today than ever. Our Language school Aktiv in Vienna offers a wide range of different language courses in various languages. Many of our students already have a basic knowledge of their desired language. In one case, it does not make sense that they attend a course where they already know about all the objectives that are to be learned. In that case, the students would be under-challenged and get bored. The other extreme is meaningless as well. In a course that includes topics that are quite above your knowledge, you are constantly stressed and frustrated. For this, the very first step before starting a language course is the selecting the language level that closely fits your knowledge. In order to achieve this as efficiently as possible, we have developed placement tests available on our website. They are available in German, English, Spanish, French and Italian.
The placement test can be taken online or in person at our language school
If you live outside Vienna and can not visit the beautiful city, simply take the placement test online. Of course, we also look forward to seeing you in our language school and welcome you to do the test here. The tests are always for free and give you precise information about your current knowledge.
Another option is the free trial lesson. Within a lesson, you can get an impression of the course. At the same time the teacher gets an impression of their abilities and can assign them to the right course.
The placement test determines your appropriate language level
Our language courses are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This makes the courses compatible and then you can continue them at any other school, city or even another European country.
There are three levels: A, B and C. The requirements increase at each level. Since these three levels are too inaccurate, they are subdivided once again:
A1 level courses are for beginners, A2 level is for beginners with some basic knowledge.
Level B1 courses aim for independent language use. A course at level B2 is relevant only if you can already use the language by yourself.
The following knowledge is checked by the test
The test examines your reading comprehension skills. The test also includes vocabulary and grammar questions. Of course, an online test has its limits. Statements on the written and oral expression are difficult and hardly representable with this test. However, it is accurate enough to determine the language course appropriate for you.
This is how the placement test works
How does it work? The language levels:
- Placement test A1.1: 60% or more … = language level A1.2
- Placement test A1.2: 60% or more … = language level A2.1
- Placement test A2.1: 60% or more … = language level A2.2
- Placement test A2.2: 60% or more … = language level B1.1
- Placement test B1.1: 60% or more … = language level B1.2
- Placement test B1.2: 60% or more … = language level B2.1
- Placement test B2.1 60% or more … = language level B2.2
- Placement test B2.2 60% or more … = language level C1.1
The test results are basis for your upcoming language training
After you have completed the placement test, you are welcome to send us your results by e-mail. The result is on basis of grammar and vocabulary knowledge. You will also get hints on how you can specifically improve your knowledge and which course is suitable for you.
